Dear All,

Daily work management, which is also called Routine Management, is a management system which will enable us to sustain and improve our output. It is a system management approach where we take care of our day to day abnormalities and issues and take correction and corrective measures.

A strong DWM will enable us to reduce firefighting and will stabilize our work. Now, DWM is not those things we do daily. It is the routine activity of our job that we do regularly. It is daily / weekly/monthly PDCA approach which forces us to do good planning (planning based on analysis), check it on a daily /weekly /monthly basis for both processes (activity) and results, do deep analysis of root cause and come out with counter measures and put it in the planning again. This cycle will go on till we achieve our desired results.

According to me DWM will strengthen our base for any improvement. It will make us more productive and predictable.

I would like to suggest that you read and understand DWM most important is to implement it at all levels.

  1. Prepare KPI of self and for all under you along with current target
  2. Make MY DM Chart. Each day have a list of activities to be done for particular KPI to be listed in writing.
  3. Start your day with a fixed set of activities and spend 2 hours or your time on Routine activities. A daily meeting with your team at the start of the day etc.
  4. Complete the Planning sheet for each KPI – action points – how part
  5. Ensure you do deep analysis of all the gaps after proper stratification (area wise, service wise, etc.)
  6. Do your daily, weekly and monthly review without fail
